The business Pathfinder is our core offering, providing you with concrete steps to building and marketing your business. The pathfinder process involves two intensive sessions with us (2-3 hours in length). We give you assignments before each session and do our research to discover who your customers are, where to find them and how to reach them most effectively.
At the end of the Pathfinder we provide you with a detailed report which includes a series of simple, practical steps to building and marketing your business.
We customize the Pathfinder for each client. Usually it will include the following 5 steps.
Assess your starting point
All too often we charge into action without any consideration for where we have come from: our successes and disappointments, our strengths and weaknesses, our hopes and fears. If you don’t do the work to assess what has gone before you carry all that baggage into your future plans. You get stuck with doing what you already know and playing safe.
In our first session we take stock of everything that has happened in your business that has got you to this point. You’ll discover your strengths and weakness, the hidden assumptions you have, the disempowering stories that are holding you back and the obstacles to creating the business you really want.
We assess the state of the nation, what is currently happening in your business. What is working, where are you already successful and where you are not. We do this by looking at real data (facts and figures) and not your feelings.
Design the future
Most small businesses do not take the time to design and plan their future. They are too busy reacting to the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet. Creating a roadmap to success is difficult on your own. In this process you get the breathing room and support to really create a new future for your business, a vision that takes into account both your dreams and your current economic reality.
Together we will create a picture of where you are going even if you don’t know yet all the steps of how to get there (we’ll cover that later).
Define your offer and create your value
Your business is a love affair with your customers and it’s a mistake to take them for granted or assume you know what is going to make their hearts sing. Your job is offer them great value and to have them feel delighted, respected and satisfied when they buy from you. You need to do everything you can to make it easy for them to trust you and simplify the decision making process.
We will fire up your creativity and brainstorm the many, many, many ways you can sell, package and price your product or service. The outcome will be a range of offers that are compelling and engaging for your customers.
Map your network
Your business is about people. It doesn’t matter what you are selling, it’s people who are buying. What will determine your business success is your ability to connect to and leverage your network.
We will create a map of your network. We’ll identify the champions who will help your business grow, the places your customers hang out and the people to talk to first to get immediate results.
Create a plan
Now we have done all the critical thinking about your business it’s time to put it all into an action plan. In our final report we pull together all the work we have done together to create a strategic roadmap for your business that is pragmatic*, flexible, sensible, exciting and REAL.
You’ll create the kind of plan that gets you out of bed in the morning because you are excited about your business and you know exactly what you need to do next to turn it into a reality.
