About Us

Dr Cathy Key and Madhu Bolton are the brains and the beauty behind Melting Point. Having created two successful software businesses, we are now committed to helping other businesses succeed. We work exclusively with companies who are out to make a difference in the world.

We started our first company in 2002 with just a few thousand dollars. We didn’t have a credit card, the bank wouldn’t give us an overdraft and we didn’t qualify for a business loan. All we had was a small amount of savings, a great idea and a lot of enthusiasm. We built a software platform for event planners that we thought was brilliant. The only problem was we had no customers. That was our first experience in boot-strapping. We used our own creativity, network and a small amount of cash to launch what would become a successful company with clients all over the world.

Over the years we have worked with hundreds of organizations from non-profits to government agencies to small businesses. We have seen companies with 20 million dollars of investment crash and burn. We have seen start-ups with virtually no capital become worldwide successes.

In 2013 we sold that company and decided to apply all our experience to help entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground.  Now we work exclusively with organizations that are committed to doing good in the world. We call these people ‘conscious entrepreneurs’ and they include health practitioners, life coaches, writers, green tech companies, companies that sell healthy products, photographers and artists.

Dr Cathy Key

They say it takes 10,000 hours to become a master at something. I’ve done well over my 10,000 hours in business development, marketing and sales. Having sold over $2 million of software and working with companies, universities and non-profits world-wide I’ve learnt what it takes to connect with people in a meaningful way.

I have a PhD in Anthropology, with a research focus on the ‘evolution of cooperation’. I am fascinated by human behaviour, how the mind works and how people connect to each other.

I’m a mixed media artist (check out my work at www.cathykey.com) and I enjoy bringing that artistry to branding and website design.

Madhu Bolton

The world knows us by what we communicate about ourselves; how we look, what we say and how we act. I help our clients design their business communications to be an authentic expression of who they are and what they stand for.

I am a creative professional; an expert in usability and interaction design, a certified NLP master practitioner, a communications expert, an award-winning designer and a musician/composer. This combination of creative intelligence and insightful communication allows me to help other business owners see themselves and their business in a new light.

Serving the community

Both of us believe strongly in service to the community. We usually volunteer for 30+ hours each week, training people in a range of areas that include creating community projects, being effective, building better relationships and being powerful in their finances.

Our paid work allows us to provide this kind of support for the community. On the flip side, the past seven years of work in the community has deepened our ability to provide powerful coaching and mentoring for our clients.
